Sub: Implementation of Apprenticeship Training Scheme (ATS) / National Apprenticeship Promotion Scheme (NAPS) Madam/Sir, |
|
||
It has been realized that India
would become a prosperous and a modern
state by raising skill levels in general and engaging a larger
proportion of apprentices in particular. Apprenticeship training is one
of the most efficient ways to develop skilled manpower for industry by
using training facilities available in the establishments without
putting an extra burden on exchequer to set up the training
infrastructure. Persons after undergoing apprenticeship training can
easily adapt to industrial environment at the time of regular
employment. In this emerging scenario, our honourable Prime Minister has
launched the National Apprenticeship Promotion Scheme (NAPS) on
19.08.2016 to provide apprenticeship training to 50 lakh youth by 2020.
Under the scheme, Government of India will share:
► 25% of prescribed stipend subject to a maximum of ₹ 1500 per month per apprentice with the employers
► Maximum of ₹ 7500 per fresher apprentice (school pass outs without any
skill training) as a cost of basic training with the registered
Basic Training Providers (BTPs).
It is to mention here that, it is mandatory for
all Government Establishments, Public Sector Undertakings (PSUs), and Private
Establishments having manpower
strength of more than 40 to engage apprentices as per Apprenticeship
Act 1961. Establishments having manpower strength between 6 to 40 may
also engage apprentices through the apprenticeship portal by
registering themselves on this portal. The portal also allows
registration of apprentices and submission of contract of
apprenticeship.
In view of this, we would like to join hands with your esteemed
establishment to utilize your training infrastructure as said above to
augment the existing number of apprentices to a optimum level of 10% or
more. Further, if any establishment has not engaged apprentices so
far, we would like to support and guide them to initiate the apprenticeship
training to make it a win-win scenario for all the stake holders.
Looking forward to your kind co-operation and necessary action for increasing apprentice enrolment. | ||||
Yours Sincerely, | ||||
