THE MAIN FUNCTION AND DUTIES OF REGIONAL DIRECTORATE OF APPRENTICESHIP TRAINING

 Apprenticeship Training Scheme (ATS)

 A) External
 1. Survey:
Identification of prospective Establishments
Assessment of Infrastructure & Training facilities
Allocation of seats
 
2. Resurvey:
Reassessment of Infrastructure & Training facilities
Identification of new areas
Re-evaluation
Reallocation of seats

 3. Progressive Trade Test:
Conduction of periodical tests
Review of Quality aspect of training
Provide feedback
Reassessment & suggestion

4. Inspection:
Inspection of physical facilities & other parameters
Evaluation of quality of training & shortfall
Corrective action

 5. Follow up:
Evaluation of training & qualitative measures
Providing guidance / sources to engage apprentice
Implementation of provisions of Act as per norms

 6.  Jt. Evaluation of ITIs / ITCs:
Co-ordination with DETs
Periodic checking of ITIs / ITCs for effective training
Suggestions for remedial measures for improvement

7.  Jt. Inspection of establishments under State / Private Sector:
Co-ordination with DETs
Periodic checking of Industries covered under App.  Act of State & private sector establishments
Suggestion of remedial measures for improvement

 8. Close coordination and liaison with the State Apprenticeship Advisers of the Southern Region:
Monitoring the activities of the state authorities for improvement in implementation of apprenticeship training
Monitoring the scheme qualitatively and quantitatively
Covering more establishments in formal and informal sectors

 9. Identification of new establishments under Central Sector in Southern Region:
Identifying new establishments
To ensure more number of establishments brought under the Act

 10. Arrangement of AITT:
Monitoring the standard of an establishment and infrastructural to conduct AITT
Declare the establishment as AITT centre
Arrangement for smooth conduct of AITT regularly

Compilation & storage of statistical data
Preparation, Moderation & Supply of question papers for conducting All India Trade Test (Modular Pattern) in respect of Instructor Training Courses

Skill evelopment Initiative Scheme (SDIS-MES)
Overall implementation and monitoring of MES scheme in the states of Tamilnadu and Kerala,  UTs: Andaman & Nicobar,  Puducherry, and  Laksdhweep
To allot ABN to the batches submitted by VTPs
To monitor training and assessments under MES scheme
To publish the assessment resullts submitted by ABs
To prepare results and NCVT certificates
To allot ABs for DCA assessments
To allot ABs under RPL scheme
To verify the bills of assessments submitted by ABs for DCA candidates
